ADSL2 Upgrade Questions
« on: September 18, 2025, 04:12:40 PM »

I still have my Old ADSL2 connection since we had Full Fibre with another isp some years ago as a backup.

I have a /29 block of fixed IP's with the ADSL2 connection, been looking to upgrade it to full fibre and getting rid of the other fibre connection after a period of time to make sure it was working ok.

I am getting no sense from the ADSL2 isp support. !

It looks like they are removing my emails with them at the end of the year although I have had nothing official yet. ?

I have asked if I will keep my /29 IP's
They say I will loose them as I would be with another supplier ???
I thought the /29 block would belong to them not another supplier and if I upgraded with them I would still keep them.

Unless they are using PPPoE and without knowing their architecture, difficult to say why you couldn't keep them, I don't see a reason why not, but there may be some technical limitation here.

This google search explains things.

Eclipse Broadband functions as a reseller ISP through wholesale agreements, such as its recent partnership with KCOM to use the KCOM network. As part of the Telecom Acquisitions Limited (TAL) group, Eclipse Broadband provides connectivity, communication, and cloud services.

Telecom Acquisitions Limited (TAL) operates primarily as a reseller of broadband services, both by acquiring existing customer bases and by partnering with network providers to offer services through its consumer brands like Home Telecom, Fleur Telecom, and Eclipse Broadband. TAL's business model involves acquiring customers from other ISPs and utilizing wholesale partnerships with network infrastructure companies such as KCOM and MS3 Networks to provide its services.

This allows Eclipse to offer services without building and maintaining its own extensive network, similar to a traditional reseller or partner model.

We first had this Eclipse isp when we had our shop in the village (now sold) and it was 'Eclipse / Kcom'
then it was sold to TAL a few years ago.

It could also explain why the support side haven't got a clue on technical questions..

So my ADSL2 connection could still be going through Kcoms network  :hmm:

I highly suspect there is really no path to keeping those IPs, but then do you really need them?

I had confirmation that if I upgrade with Eclipse I will loose all my Legacy benefits  >:(, so going do away with this isp and keep my 'No One internet' FTTP.

You may need to watch them as well as according to their website they are no longer taking on residential customers.

I’d buy L2TP from AA, at least that would be entirely provider agnostic.

Yes I had seen that  But

I was a business customer with them, then they moved me onto a cheaper (maybe domestic) price, a few months later they got taken over, so not idea what I am on.

As they still not responded to any emails or tickets I have sent them since there take over I am Not happy and might re-think about going with Idnet, Aquiss or Zen.

I am with Freeola which resells Zen and I am quite pleased with it. I chose Freeola as I liked their 1 month contract option. Was a happy A&A customer previously but wanted more speedzzz
