YouFibre and YouPhone problems
« on: August 23, 2025, 03:28:56 PM »

On Tuesday I requested the addition of YouPhone to my account (with number transfer from landline). On Thursday evening I noticed problems in connecting to some Web sites. At first I assumed it was Wifi issues, but when I turned off Wifi on my phone these problems weren't there. I wondered if it was related to the transfer. I was then able to get my laptop to access everything if I used my phone as a hotspot. Thankfully I have a good data allowance on my phone.

So where is the problem likely to be? I hadn't made any changes to my laptop or router. I wondered if it might be DNS related, so I changed my DNS server on the Fritz Boz to the default ISP settings (previously using Cloudflare settings on router and laptop/phone.

In a related question, does anyone have a Fritz Box working with a Gigaset VOIP base station and YouPhone? The Gigaset doesn't list YF in its list of settings, so how do I configure it?

Extra info: ping to ipv4 (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8) fails, but ipv6 works fine.

From the symptoms I'm wondering if you have an IP address clash somewhere. How is the the YouPhone service deployed - do you need a separate Analogue Terminal Adapter (ATA) for the phone service and if so are you using your own or one supplied by YouFibre? Also, whose router are you using, your own or a YouFibre supplied one?
If all the kit is ISP supplied then I'd be going back to them to sort it.

Would set up the YF stuff and see if it continues. If not, you can transfer the settings to the Fritz box.

The base station is plugged in the FritzBox router. I've been unable to find if anyone is using that router with the YF service. The base station shows up on my network, but not configured, but as far as I can tell my calls are still coming through in the landline (which the base station is still connected to).

I no longer use the supplied eero.

I have raised a ticket, but it's defnitely missing ipv4.

In that case I'd start by reconnecting the eero together with the 'base station' (ATA?) and seeing if it all works that way. If it does then you know it's a config mismatch between your FritzBox and the 'base station'.
I am a bit puzzled when you say the base station is connected to the router and to the landline as I'd have thought it should go to one or the other and not both?

The base station is the DECT base station. It has been connected to my landline, but also has an ethernet connection for the router when used for VOIP.

Thanks for the tip about trying the eero. That should reduce any confusion as to the source.

Ok I've got the eero up and running and that seems to have worked OK. I'm still not sure why my router is blocking ipv4. I experimented with some of the options in the control panel (after the start of the problems) but the only thing that made any difference was switching off IPv6 - and that stopped connections completely!)

Does the Fritzbox work correctly with the DECT base station disconnected as there could be an IP clash there?

The FB shows base station as being connected, but obviously it doesn't do anything currently. I'll give your suggestion a try.

I did speak to YF earlier and they're sending someone on Friday. It also turned out that the port hadn't been requested. Using the eero means I can't use the DECT, so assume they'll supply a new ONT and/or router.
