Time for a Change...
« on: August 06, 2025, 10:14:15 AM »

Hello everyone  ;D

Been a while, I have been with Aquiss for almost 2 years now, its been brilliant, but I didn't realize until after I signed up, that they use only STATIC IP addresses! (had the same ISP IP for 2 years)

Can anyone recommend any good, reliable, always fast ISPs like Aquiss, but that has Dynamic IP addresses?

I'm currently on FTTP

hope your all doing well

Why do you need a dynamic?
Most people are looking for static IPs!
Without a post code, it's also hard to recommend any of the Alternative Fibres.

I was thinking the same thing, if you already have a brilliant ISP with a static IP then I would stick with them, I can't think of any real advantages of dynamic IP, only disadvantages .. well maybe a slight security advantage but massively outweighed by the disadvantages ...

Most ISPs even with dynamic IP addresses they tend to be sticky and rarely change, or worse you'll be on CG-NAT which makes all the drawbacks a whole lot worse.

If your IP address changes too often it can cause issues with some sites and also the chance of getting hit with a traffic limit or an outright ban if someone did something dodgy with the IP address recently.

Think of a static IP as kinda like a credit rating, the long you have the same IP address then you build up trust score which reduces the chance of your IP address being blacklisted.

If you want to downgrade your IP quality, because thats what dynamic is in effect, then I would look for CG-NAT because as others pointed out, those that offer routable IP's are usually fairly sticky.

Stay with them! You pay more for a static IP at most places.

If you are happy with the service, why risk going somewhere potentially worse?
