If you were dual booting, why were you using WINE? Maybe I misread :)
I was trying to use Linux as my day to day and run as many games as possible, at the time I was playing a lot of Eve Online and was running it (and other games) under Wine where possible, it worked OK except almost every time there was an Eve update it broke.
Linux was actually fine for work and general office type stuff and I used it for a while until the IT department found out and they got very upset as they couldn't manage 'security' and made me go back to Windows, lol.
There were of course some games that just wouldn't work under Wine, and also my video editing and music DAW for those I rebooted into Windows.  The Opensource equivalents of FL Studio and Davinci Resolve do exist, just not as polished capable and nice to use.

I got fed up of the whole arrangement after a while, nowadays I have a Windows 11 PC for games and several different (older) PC's running different distros of Linux which I use sometimes

I'm upgrading what I can to Windows 11, my desktop I did a few weeks ago, my home server will be next, I had to buy TPM's for both though.

My laptop, and my wifes were both upgraded to Windows 11 some time ago. I need to check my daughters laptops though.

That will leave two much older PC's that are only really used for watching TV via Mediaportal, not sure what I'll do with them, but the risk is very low due to what they are used for.

No way am I moving over to Linux, I do play games, Mediaportal is Windows software, I know Windows and its pretty easy to find answers to problem. I have used Linux, but it's always a struggle to sort issues out and there is so much info its overwhelming.

I understand folks who have reasons to keep to Windows especially if there is a pressing need for a particular application which is only available for Windows, although in my view developers are missing a trick in not supporting it especially when most of them support the Mac OS. To be honest Linux these days is not difficult and problems if they do arrive can be solved pretty easily.

For me, as I don't play games, Linux has been trouble free and I have no issues with hardware support and all the software I need is available for free. One of my main issues with Windows is the ever changing hardware requirements as well as the cost now I'm retired! Also I have only ever had one virus issue many years ago and that was on Windows XP (needed because of one application now no longer needed  ;) ) and that was even running anti-virus software. I have never had such an issue running Linux. Just my personal experience.

Personally I find Windows more problematic, as usually when something goes wrong there's tons of advice and none of it works.

When things go wrong on Linux its usually a lot more specific so actually easier to find a solution, though granted there is an element of knowing what to look for.  Its that initial learning curve I guess.

Windows 11 has just been disaster after disaster, though granted I have avoided the big problems so far.  But having to worry that my expensive SSD might suddenly die because of a dodgy Windows Update that Microsoft can't be bothered to revoke after many reports of this being an issue, is far worse than anything I have experienced on Linux.

Yes its been a while since I had any Windows machine but the Microsoft update process is what bugged me most particularly with a PC running an application 24x7 and needing a reboot to complete it. Yes there are times when a reboot is advisable after a Linux update but the system will continue running until that can be done at a suitable time, and best of all I am in total control of when I do updates.

I know all OSes have a learning curve but Linux today is very far from the console driven system it used to be. In fact when I moved my wife's PC to Linux she barely notice the change as I use the KDE desktop and she was already used to Thunderbird for email and Firefox for web browsing from her Windows system so it was painless! Also because I used one of the long term support distros I only update it every few weeks unless I've seen a security advisory.

HI Folks!
Well!
What about the latest update and the M.2 drive issue, has anyone had any problems yet?
Regards.

You can enroll in ESU in one of the following three ways:

At no additional cost if you are syncing your PC Settings.
Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.
One-time purchase of $30 USD or local currency equivalent plus applicable tax.

You can use your existing ESU license on up to 10 devices.
