Mrs Floydy?
« on: August 30, 2008, 07:42:15 PM »

Floydy,

Is she still looking for that missing sock of yours in the washing machine?

A curious cow got her head stuck in a fly-tipped washing machine drum in a field at Higher Fraddon, St Columb, in Cornwall. The cow escaped injury after her ordeal thanks to the efforts of the RSPCA.

I cant help but wonder which idiot thought it would be a good idea to dump a washing machine drum in the middle of a cow field.

Probably someone whose council refuses to take away any refuse that wont fit in a wheelie bin, so instead of driving to the tip they dumped it in the nearest field

Fly tipping can be a real problem to farmers, some innocent looking plants can kill livestock. Most wouldn't think a load of clippings conveniently dumped in a feild could be potentialy poisonous to the stock in that field. let alone dumping stuff like washing machines

I thought the drums were made of steel, does that not have a scrap value any more.

Probably not enough to make it worthwhile to the people who chucked it away - in fact, they probably didn't even check, given today's wasteful, throwaway society.
