--- Quote ---Dave was an amazing man, helping the world with FQ-CoDel and CAKE, fighting bufferbloat and trying to make the world a better place. Always willing to help, and without him – LibreQoS (and the other QoE solutions out there) wouldn’t exist.

--- Quote ---Dave’s contributions to Linux, FQ-CoDel, and CAKE improved internet connectivity around the world for millions of people

--- Quote ---The code Dave contributed was always free and open source. He turned down numerous lucrative contracts because he always put his principles first – he valued the impact his code could make globally, not just prestige or money.
--- End quote ---

A sad loss, there seems to be few who continue with this attitude.  A significant portion of the internet has been created by individuals who freely contribute to the community.
In contrast there are some who have made vast fortunes by their work in IT.  Thats perfectly fine, people need to eat and have a few beers. Sometimes though the amounts are eye wateringly stupid with the odd one who becomes exceedingly greedy and power hungry.
Here is not the place or time to discuss that topic though. It's to say Thank you Dave in recognition for your little contribution to the web. RIP

Alex Atkin UK:
Indeed, its quite upsetting to see things like Google, Amazon, Meta, etc raking in huge profits while giving so little back to the Open Source community they built their wealth on.
