Hi,

I have flashed my Zyxel VMG8924-B10A with johnson firmware https://github.com/johnson442/custom-zyxel-firmware/releases
the 8x24-B10A-28-jumbo-tel-x6-stats1.1-cmd to use the jumbo frames,

I just wanted to make sure that I'm putting the correct settings.

So the VMG8924-B10A in set in bridge mode and the Asus AXE11000 router behind it.

After that I go to the Asus WAN settings and set the MTU to 1500?
There is also an MRU setting underneath the MTU, do i leave that to 1492

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately the Asus AXE11000 router does not support Jumbo frames.

Do you think I can use the XMG3927 as a router behind the VMG8924-B10A and use Jumbo frames if such thing is possible on the XMG3927?

Would you be able to tell me the serial number of your 1312 or at least the first few numbers, I would like to buy one from eBay but trying to find an old one because from what I can read here, there are new ones that have different firmware? I think they were called John Lewis if I'm not mistaken?

What are you trying to achieve here as it seems a lot of effort and expense for the tiny gains that using MTU 1500 rather than 1492 will give you?

Personally I like to experiment in networking even if the gains are minimum, that being said if the experiments require tiny amount of money to spend than I don't mind doing that.

The Merlin firmware should allow 1500 selection:

That's also what I'm using at the moment on the Asus AXE11000 Router, when I tried to set it to 1500 and tested with ping command it didn't work. But it seems to be Router specific for some reason, the ones tested by some people and worked are the ASUS RT-AC86U and the RT-AC3100.

I have to Type it in, but anything above 1500 will result in popup saying MAX is 1500!

If you SSH into the Asus router and issue ifconfig WAN_interface - what MTU do you see? 1492?

What happens if you try to change it manually?
ifconfig WAN_interface mtu 1508 up

Im using Merlin Firmware, and I think the correct command is "ifconfig eth0" since that's the WAN port on the router

and when I use it, it does indeed show MTU1500.

and I also tried "ifconfig WAN_interface mtu 1508 up" does not work
tried "ifconfig eth0 mtu 1508 up" and says: ifconfig: SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument

You have to put the actual WAN_interface name, pppe0 or whatever its name is...

is that how i put the whole command in:
ifconfig WAN_interface pppe0 mtu 1508 up?

Just type ifconfig to get that info
