Shall let you know when it is delivered.

Cool, can't wait to hear how it is!

Not OpenWRT and no built-in Wi-Fi but can be had for around £245.

I'm only looking at OpenWRT FOR WiFi, not as a router.

Just to add to the mix, this guy is running three Minisforums in a cluster for his home lab. Seems a lot better idea than a Pi. To use some form of capable mini pc.

Have also seen an embedded AMD with WIFI 4G and SPF+ on board from a Chinese firm. It seemed very capable.
Always think your router/modem should be a point of minimal failure. with some form of back up. Have myself a fall back of a PlusNet 1 in case my TP link decides to jump!
Regards.

I have often thought the same as I believe you can install it (OpenWRT) on Ubiquiti hardware, although I like Ubiquiti hardware the weird proprietary software environment with server software etc is annoying although admittedly it works pretty well

I have OpenWRT on a NanoHD because I despised having to run their software and they omitted 160Mhz channel width from their limited WebUI.  I use it for all devices WiFi 5 or older.  The fact I can export comprehensive client information makes it easy to identify any signal problems.

So being able to buy something WiFi 7 with OpenWRT already natively on it fully supported is worth waiting for.

Yesterday I dug out an an old (retired) Ubiquiti AC PRO and installed OpenWRT on it using these instructions, it was easy, worked really well and I like the UI and simplicity

Unfortunately my U7 Pro is not yet supported so, if I want wifi 7 my next AP could be one of these !

If you need QAM-256 on 2.4GHz, it's not been patched on OpenWrt
https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/pull/12904

ImmortalWrt has it already if you need that, plus a couple of optimizations that OpenWrt has not included:

Can I ask where you bought from? There was a thread that came up yesterday on the official forums: https://forum.openwrt.org/t/warning-do-not-buy-openwrt-one-via-aliexpress-bipai-product-store/230352/1

Apparently store Bipai is not including CE documentation for import. Maybe this doesn't matter for UK since it's not technically EU but wanted to see.
