One number, two locations
« on: January 10, 2025, 08:56:42 PM »

Just had a though: with digital voice now becoming more popular, it's probably now possible to have one telephone number at two locations, since all it requires is a set of settings and, of course, an active broadband connection (whether it's mobile, satellite or FTTP). Is this right?

I moved my landline number to VoIP and have a softphone client on my mobile phone, so now my "landline" number will effectively work anywhere.

Yes just do not call 999 from the not registered address as you can be fined for doing so.

It can't be done with BT Digital Voice though. BT DV is proprietary, not standard VoIP.
