Bit of info from the fibre enquiries team.

Quote
Hi Jon21,

Thank you for your recent enquiry via openreach.com regarding the availability of fibre broadband.

The good news is that Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband is coming to your property by July 2027. (2027? Typo?)

I’m sorry we cannot give you a more accurate date, and our plans are subject to change, but once the work is completed, you’ll be able to order Ultrafast Full Fibre from any one of the hundreds of broadband providers who are powered by our network.

The best way to keep up to date with our plans is to register your interest in Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband via our Fibre Checker. We’ll let you know if the plans change and when Ultrafast Full Fibre Broadband is available to order.

If you need to contact us further please use the following link, as the email account I’m writing to you from doesn’t accept replies.

Kind regards

Looks like more work needs doing before being able to order. Still, got Virgin so it’s not all bad but would prefer FTTP when it’s available.

Hmm, the Openreach checker has gone from "We are building in the area now" to "We have no plans to build Full Fibre to this property yet". Anyone else had this happen? Seems a bit weird to do quite a bit of work and then not roll out. Unless the checker is updating? Clutching at straws a bit.

They could of found issues in your area, so have pushed it back! Not good!  :( :(

Lol, I am actually not that far away from where he is. Not in Telford but not far away.

Hopefully not. They were clearing ducts and replaced a chamber. I know Map Group did do some cabling work a little further up the road. But I haven't seen anything since they finished up doing the poles further down the road.

Edit: It's back to showing "We're building in this area now"  ???

Bit of an update and probably the last one until some work actually happens. Latest date that I've been given is by July 2027. No idea what else needs to be done but looks like I'll be on Virgin for at least another 12 months.

Bit of info from the fibre enquiries team.
Is there a readily-available way of getting a reasonable forecast for FTTP availability if it's in the plans?
Our area has been "no plans" for ages but very recently it has changed to:
We’ll be building in this area in the next year, Full Fibre Broadband Up to 1600* Mbps download speed, Up to 115* Mbps upload speed.

Having just renewed my FTTC/SOGEA contract (with PlusNet) after thinking about Virgin cable briefly this is good news, but is a better estimate possible?  ;)

There's this form: https://www.openreach.com/forms/fibre-broadband-availability---customer-form

Should get a reply from Openreach in a few days.

Ok, I did say I wasn't going to update but the checker has gone from "We are building in this area now" to "We’ll be building in this area in the next year". At least it's a bit more realistic, as there was nothing happening. Shall see what 2026 brings.

Hopefully it be in 2026 Jon21, mine was by end of 2026, they started work in autumn, and I checked today OR have done it.

I think they are passive on the estimates to dampen expectations.

I'm guessing that the copper might be DIG? There's definitely no ducting from the pavement to where it enters in the house. There is ducting in the pavement, there's a chamber outside the house in the pavement. Would that affect how they deliver fibre? As if it is going to be delivered underground then presumably they will want to put ducting in from the pavement to the house? Would be much easier done by poles, although no idea if that would ever be a possibility. Wouldn't look out of place as the rest of the road has poles, just not the bit I'm on.
