Sounds like it, and I have read multiple reports in the past where OR announce an area and then very quickly after work is being done.

Keep an eye on it, but sounds promising indeed. I was told December 2026, then all of a sudden had an e-mail telling me it'd be 6 months. I saw engineers out around all the chambers in the street that same week and was able to order FTTP within a month of that. Building an entire full fibre network is hard.. it takes time :) But, a promising sign!!

Bit more of an update. Been plenty of roadworks around town over the last few months. Looks as though the bottom half of the street that has poles, is having some more poles installed next week. There’s been a few duct clearing works on the half I’m on. Interestingly, the fibre checker has changed from up to December 2026 to Not yet available. I’d be surprised if the half of the street I’m on isn’t done as there’s plenty of side roads that branch off from it.

Map Group were doing some work late last night a bit further up our road. Looked as though they were pulling conduit through? It was a tube with a stripe on it. Is that what the fibre gets blown down?

HI Jon,
That is the fibre! multi strand. So quiet chunky.

If it was hollow definitely subduct. If it was wide same story. Even very high fibre count cables are only 15-ish mm across.

If it was grey it's duct, if it was black it's probably cable. Openreach fibre often has a stripe.

Thanks to both. It looked black with the stripe, was laid out on top of the pavement, presumably getting ready to pull through. They were doing a section from a 3 lid chamber down to one of the junctions on the road.

You should of popped over and had a chat.
Most seem happy to talk about what they are doing.

Bit of an update. The half of the road that has poles (and the side roads and cul de sacs) now seem to be able to order. The half I’m in, where it’s ducted in the pavement, still shows as working in the area. Map Group have been doing most of the work so far, although haven’t seen any of their vans since last week. Hopefully it won’t be too long before it’s ready.

Yeah hopefully won’t be too long. Interestingly, I was kind of expecting to see equipment on the poles but it looks as though they dug to the base of the pole and put some metal capping and a pull rope in. I guess the splitters etc are elsewhere in a chamber?

I haven’t seen them pull any fibre to the chamber in front of the house, in the pavement, or any kind of equipment installed. Obviously, don’t mean it hasn’t happened as it doesn’t seem to take long to do a section, about an hour from what I saw last week.
