Speedtest.net
« on: October 16, 2024, 08:57:54 PM »

Strange issue with Speedtest.net on my Win10 desktop, Ryzen-5 PC.
After logging in, tests run normally, speeds to expectation.
However, most of my test history has disappeared, earliest records are now year 2020 when I was FTTC with Plusnet, tests just performed do not appear in history either ???
Can't retrieve recent history with any of the filter options.
Have noted that the main site page has changed, looks like a re-vamp done recently, could this be connected?

Have checked on the Ookla web site for any similar reports, nothing found.
Has anyone recently experienced anything similar?
Last time run was approx 2 weeks ago and was "normal", ie, full history displayed.

Apologies to moderators if I have posted in wrong catagory, not really sure.

My test results for the last 11 years have vanished.
I have some results for 2012/13

I dont often log mine so I wasnt expecting much, but I think there should be more than what I do have.
The only prior record for mine is June 2024 and it is recording any repeat tests today.

@digbey:
Ahh, so it would appear it's not just me.

@kitz:
I certainly don't speed test very often now since migrating to FTTP as I would think is the case for most FTTP subscribers.
In my case, any current, repeat tests although performing normally don't store, ie, don't appear in history.

The Ookla site suggests that AdBlocker utilities can be an issue with Speedtest.net, I have always used AdBlocker on Firefox browser and PiHole running on a RPi-3B without any issues, have tried disabling both and running speed tests, no change.

The problem for me is, I'm not logged in and there is no longer any link TO login.

That's strange!
On the current home page, top RH corner, little "head & shoulders" icon, does not offer "login" on the drop down menu as such but hovering on the icon produces a "Log In" label.
So basically, just left click the icon and that should go to the login page.

That's the way it works for me anyway, can't remember if that's a change since the home page re-vamp as I have always had a Win shortcut directly to the login page:

I'm pretty sure it used to say Login instead of the little head icon, or at least next to it.  Having it only appear on hover threw me.

Anyway logged in and now can see the results filter is completely messed up.  Its only showing the oldest 50 results and you have to keep clicking Show More to add 50 more results, which sure takes a while when I have 910 on my account.

Yes, the home web page has definately changed and not really for the better!
Once logged in you still get a "logout" option in the pull down menu, why they dropped the "login"....
Glad you managed to get logged in again.

By continually scrolling "50 more" results I eventually found yesterdays tests, the listing is nothing like consecutive, jumps around in groups from 2020 (in my case) to current, really random, at least my test history still appears to exist and has not been lost, hopefully will still be there when the site filtering logistics are eventually sorted out.

It's nostalgic to have BB speed records back to the bad old ADSL days :)

My history only goes back to the very late ADSL2 days, which I also document at https://csdprojects.co.uk/ping/show/alexatkin

Looks like Ookla "speedtest.net" is now fixed with respect to displaying test results in a chronological order, latest first, ie., the way it used to work before the major site update.
Don't appear to have lost any of my archieved test records including those performed while the issue still existed, no need to do anything with the filter, once logged in, test history just displays "normally" as it did before the upgrade.

Have not logged on to the site for quite a few weeks so not sure when the fix occured, good to see it back to normal again :)
