Logitech Wireless Mouse & Keyboard Issue
« on: August 29, 2024, 09:08:31 AM »

My Logitech cordless (Wi-Fi) mouse & keyboard combination used on my desktop PC became erratic, ie., mouse movement jumpy/unpredictable, keyboard frequently not typing, had to be switched off/on to restore, very annoying.
Win drivers reported as up to date.
Reluctant to change to wired mouse/KB as enough cables already on my setup.

After implementing various suggestions found the following actions completely cured the issue:
Associated Wi-Fi dongle changed from a USB-3 port to a USB-2 port.
Wi-Fi dongle moved from the rear of the desktop PC (now on USB-2 port) using a male/female extension lead adjacent to the keyboard/mouse location at the front of the desk, could have used a front USB ports on the PC but both were USB-3 and I prefer to keep these for other applications anyway.

Can't really say which action had the most impact as both carried out at the same time, just pleased it's sorted  :)

I have a Logitech K545 kb and M510 mouse and my wi-fi dongle is only about 8inches away actually plugged into a KVM switch but behaves OK and has done since I got it a couple of years ago. So I would guess moving your dongle closer is probably the fix! There may have been some interference with it further away.

Yes, you'r probably correct on that.
I had read on a support forum that using a USB-3 port for the dongle did cause issues in some instances.
In my case it was just as easy to utilise a USB-2 port at the back of my desktop PC for the extension cable where the dongle, purely by accident had originally been directly plugged into a USB-3 port.
There's also a school of thought that de-selecting "Enhance pointer precision" in "Pointer Options" helps cure mouse instability.

Seems to be the general opinion that Logitech gear is not as good as it used to be, budget priced, made in China (like most electronics now)  ;D
