I was on gig1 in 2022/2023 and it was good, so there is a fair chance they have improved.

Also you have 2 weeks after it is installed to choose to change your mind without penalty.

Also one step at a time, the first 18 months will be good price, then you can make another decision at end of that 18 months, by then you might have more options.

I have decided to go for M500 Fibre Broadband with VM after xmas 34 pound a month for next 18 months plus two price rise in 18 months would be 40 pound a month. I honest think 516/52 are more than enough for my needs. Not bother with 1Gig now. After 18 months FTTP might be ready by then and switch to Openreach FTTP Full Fibre 500 if it was available at the time.

Sounds like a good plan, especially if you have two weeks to try it before you are committed to the 18 month contract. :)

I find it a relief to hear this.  I couldn't help but think you'd get stressed at mobile services having very fluctuating performance.

I get excellent Three 5G here but when I tried it exclusively for a few months I had problems with websites loading, even though the raw download speed was fine.  When mobile services get bottlenecked, it takes months to resolve and is more likely to happen as more people move over to 5G.

Heck, they resolved the problem here by putting up a new tower, not something you can expect to always happen.

Broadband from VM and Openreach is always best for 24/7/365. Mobile is just for mobile phone (don't think it best idea to use it for mobile broadband)

Updated:

Mine is not available 😢 but my parents updated again back to "Build planned between now and Dec-2026" for Cuckoo Oak. (they has FTTC but no G.fast or No Virgin Media)

Openreach seem don't like me at all. (got G.fast 255/34) Still not available with no updates.

@adslmax, if you have VM available then there's likely to be little economic benefit for Openreach to install FTTC in your area.

I don't like VM cable laying outside of my house with sharing fed from neighbour! I hate that! Use to be my own cable until VM few years ago they put VM next door using my cable. Lazy git VM!

Why would you care?  All residential broadband is a shared medium.  FTTP is a shared optical fibre, and even if FTTC isn't shared at the street level, its shared fibre back to the exchange.

It was never your own cable. It joined with others in the street, now it joins with your neighbour just before that.
It makes no difference if you still had your own feed outside your house, the neighbours line would join it somewhere.

Why are you bothered? You already said you don't want their service.

You've contacted them again?  I honestly don't know why you think the answer would have changed since your previous numerous queries.
It's verging on harrassment.  I'm not surprised that nothing has changed because even if they gave you a slight hint that it may be done beforehand they wouldnt tell you purely because you'd hold any estimate as being true.  It's not done you any favours and not surprisingly you end up bottom of the pile. :(
