Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to put it out there, that I'm aware that a lot of people probably find my posts annoying to read due to their length, well it's because I'm a very, very lonely person who's been living alone for almost 8 years now (with only 5-6 visitors a year by family - by choice), so I can 'drone on' a bit—I just want people to understand where it comes from, and I apologise if people find it annoying, I do try to keep it short when I can.

cheers.

I hadn't particularly noticed.  We have all different types of posts and posters.  Some people use more words and sometimes its better to do so for the sake of clarity.  Friendly chat type posts are fine with me.

I've been accused once or twice of "mansplaining" on other forums simply because I always try to over-explain things, especially when it comes to technical things.

I brush it off as oh I'm sorry the question you asked on a technical forum I wanted to make 100% sure you understood all the nuance of what you were asking.  I'd rather over-inform someone than give them bad advice because they hadn't considered other aspects of their situation.

For note, as I'm my mums carer who is vulnerable I haven't left the house since the pandemic started, well just once for a hospital appointment.  I had only just started forcing myself to socialise more a few years before the pandemic so its been a pretty painful experience suddenly stopping.

Far worse is the short abrupt type of posting. or those who think they are entitled and those lacking manners.

>>since the pandemic started<<

I wouldnt be surprised if it has affected a lot of people. I'm also classed as vulnerable.  My own social life has plummeted since the pandemic, but that is down to a triad of things transport and not driving, my own mobility and closure of several places and social groups that ceased because of the pandemic.  I am still optimistic of getting pain under some sort of control to be able to go out. Next year I have an event that I have to attend and wouldnt want to miss.... so Im attempting a trial run in the next few months of being away from home for a few days which will be a first for me since the pandemic.

Yeah transport doesn't help.  I used to get the train out of the city once a month, but I don't feel safe around that many people any more.

I generally liked public transport given I don't have much exposure to other people without it, would be rather lonely driving everywhere on my own, though owning a car is far too expensive so I wouldn't be afford to actually do anything if I had one.

Yeah,

I think age and as we progress through it plays a part, 12 months ago I was volunteering (3rd place to do so) in the sun feeling great and having company during the day which was enough — now, I can't get a job because of my physical issues and mental health problems, I am extremely vulnerable and 'unreliable' for 'full-time employment', so I tried to volunteer to try to better myself, however I got abused (used) at these places, because I am working for free and never say 'no' as I aim to please, my father warned me that would happen as he knew what I was like! So I left under “duress”, as I say 3rd place to do so, I think that shows how unreliable I am. It just takes one nasty comment to set me off, or for me to feel ill and have to call in sick = lose job!

Now 12 months later I've had issues with neighbours, toilet waste leaks (for 4 months) that have given me an issue downstairs! UTI was positive but got treated, but, the floor has been pulled up & replaced since then, and I ain't been feeling great downstairs since, UTI test was negative!, family deaths, plus a lot more.

So I haven't been feeling quite myself lately

I'm, looking to move, it's my neighbours that I don't want to be around, they say a move is as good as rest.

Our lovely neighbour called us tramps for having a cardboard box on the front garden which we were filling with things which cannot go in the normal refuse, as you can only have so many "items" collected by the council for free per year (and only in one collection).

In protest shes been putting her bins on our path and even moved the box, causing it to collapse so it looks even worse and now wont quality as one item for collection, making the situation worse.  She also put a few of the items from the box in her bin, electrical items which are illegal to put in refuse.

Meanwhile they previously had a disused car on their illegal drive for several years, which apparently according to her is "not the same thing".  They've also dumped things on the pavement many times, playing the system because they know the council have to take that away.

We've also had the council complain that we hoard too much stuff in the house, while simultaneously telling us we shouldn't dump things on the front garden and the only help they offered was to take everything away from the problematic rooms all at once - when its not trash and needs sorting.

They don't seem to get that the more stress we have, the less likely we can do anything about it, plus the ONLY thing we can do is put it on the front garden - we can't magic it to the local tip (which is several miles away) without a car.

To make matters worse, the council decided it was a good time to book and electrical inspection just as the lockdown ended, which was a big nope.  We really want it done, for safety reasons, but there is no way we can make every outlet accessible at the same time.  Add to that part of the reason its such a mess is one room we used for storage is moldy due to their refusal to accept we had a roof leak years ago, by the time we convinced them and they fixed it, the damage was done and now its all our fault for not giving them access to that room.  Like two Asthmatics are going into a moldy room.

We still have another persistent roof leak as every time they fix that one it lasts a few months then leaks again (we think a squirrel keeps ripping the barrier), but as its not enough to show up in the room below (I had to go into the loft to get evidence, but I'm not doing that any more as I shouldn't have to and its putting my own health at risk) we've given up even trying.  The roof is well overdue a complete replacement but they refuse because "they've spent too much on repairing it already".
