What a bad article.

since today’s Wi-Fi routers can’t support 50Gbps wireless speeds, although the upcoming Wi-Fi 7 standard can theoretically reach 40Gbps. Even then, many consumer devices were never designed to receive such high speeds

I'd say even "theoretically" is misleading here given client devices are likely to remain using only 2x2 MIMO and given its not ratified yet any claims of how many MIMO streams it might support are moot anyway.

I think close to 5Gbit is going to be the absolute best WiFi 7 will do in real-world scenarios with a 160Mhz 5Ghz channel and 320Mhz 6Ghz channel combined, sat next to the router/AP.

The 50Gbps service could also appeal to power users, such as remote workers, competitive gamers, and content creators who have the budget for it and require higher bandwidth needs.

Literally none of those use cases benefit from more than Gigabit so if it IS appealing they're going to be mighty annoyed if they shell out for it and see zero improvement.

100 Gbit point to point rate limited to a bit over 50. A nice press release but nothing revolutionary: could be delivered by anyone offering FTTP using decent kit with some rearrangement of fibre  :)

YouFibre You8000 customer: symmetrical 8 Gbps.

Yes, more money than sense. Story of my life.
