Not sure I understand. Under promise and over deliver as you said?

I'm just imagining someone getting it and expecting to pull 8Gbit on a WiFi 4 client or something. ;)

There's a severe lack of understanding that "WiFi" is not the Internet and fast speeds is intended to avoid bottlenecks over multiple clients, not to push that full speed to a single one.  Of course, we all know that.

Grief. I really hope anyone wanting to put down 99.99 a month for Internet has decent kit. Worst case they'll just use the YouFibre 'beast' router and have to be educated. I imagine the product description will mention that that speed requires a cabled connection.

Same will go for the 2G product - WiFi 6/6e can get to 1.6-1.7 Gbit in my experience but would need kit with crazy numbers of spacial streams to go higher.

Zyxel even confirmed with me that indeed my AP tops out at 1.6Gbit in their own testing and I don't think it really goes over 1.4Gbit in real-world use and not consistently at that.

Even trying to use MU-MIMO clients I couldn't get the combined speed to go higher, even though technically you'd think it should be able to do two 2x2 MU-MIMO steams at 1.4Gbit at the same time, but my understanding is MU-MIMO doesn't really work that well as it incurs a lot of overhead that negates the benefit.

Mostly I tested this stuff out of curiosity, as there's little reason to not just use wired in my small house and the room say may also be a limitation, as there's going to be more reflections so maybe MU-MIMO only really works in convention centres, sports venues, etc where the signals will be weaker before they hit anything solid.

FTTC 8Mbps -> FTTP 8Gbps  Massive huge difference! Good for this company for many heavily gaming to look forward to have their top range 8Gbps full fibre at home.

I've not read the whole thread, lunchtime is over, but my brother is having community fibre 1Gbps symmetrical installed this afternoon, all for the princely sum of 21 a month.

I'm nearly there for a 2gb service when it comes. Switch and hard wired lan all compatible.. its just my router. I would like to stick with a qotom but they don't seem to do an "i7" with 2.5gb port. My current i7 qotom has 6 x1gb ports. Spose I could build my own tower with 2 x 2.5gb  lan cards??

How about this one here https://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,18987.msg468172.html#msg468172

They did say the cooling wasn't great though I doubt you'd touch the sides on 2Gbit as you can run 2Gbit on a N5105 (though not sure on PPP) or N100, you don't need an i7 unless doing DPI.

It didn't get installed as they turned up mid afternoon on Friday, and then made just about every excuse as to why the couldn't do the install.

They phoned and wanted to come at 1pm, but my brother wasn't there, appointment was 3pm.

Given my name it was required. Been on it a little while.

Will give a full review of the kit and product at some point.

Curious, what sort of backhaul speed are they running this on?

Very nice. Maybe one day they will indeed come back and do my street. I assume they will probably wait for OR to build then come behind them. Not against the idea of FTTP over two networks - not like it will cost me more than what I am shelling out now for Starlink and FTTC....

How very frustrating.

A short lived frustration, very lucky, and for the sum of 21 a month less cash back!

Bit of a tangent a 1 Gb Community Fibre install on a thread about 8 Gb YouFibre?
