SoGEA reduced in speed
« on: June 18, 2023, 02:48:21 PM »

For the first time my SoGEA 80/20 has dropped from 79999K to 79681K since FTTC installed in 2014. I believed the cabinet is now overfilled with crosstalk.

With all the electrical storms,  I would pay no attention to line stats today as they are unlikely to be accurate and need to be taken with a massive pinch of salt

Sky offer good price Ultrafast 145 for £30 a month while SoGEA 80/20 cost £39.99 per month - £10 a month less for double speed!

Nothing to do with that! I have last week didn't affect the line stats. I can see line attenuation increasing from 12.0 to 12.5dB

0.5dB is margin of error/normal variation in my opinion, completely meaningless change.  Remember, the temperature of the copper will change the attenuation, its basic physics.

A reduction of less the an 1Mb/s on a line that achieves the maximum sync rate possible isn't really with mentioning.
Think how people on 1Mb/s ADSL feel about your complaining about a very insignificant reduction in sync speed.

The forum would get very boring if people posted every time their sync changed a little.

Did you notice very large change in upstream from Max:    Upstream rate = 20700 Kbps to Max:    Upstream rate = 26002 Kbps (how strange that?) Also Line attenuation (dB):     12.3dB  is better than Zyxel

Billion 8800NL seem less errors than Zyxel router:

Going to placed an order with G.fast 160/30 next month as my SoGEA 80/20 has expired contract next week. This time I am going to staying with 160/30.  ;)

Don't you remember the misery it caused you last time you had G.fast, with its Seamless Rate Adaptation (SRA) and constantly changing sync rate? I'd have thought you'd be able to get a much better deal than £39.99 for 80/20, and aren't you eligible for a social tariff?
Please, please just stay away from G.fast!
