Budget router suggestions?
« on: February 28, 2023, 06:10:35 PM »

I wish to replace ISP router so that I can get better connection control for gaming. Most of the gaming routers are hundreds and I don't see why. I assume it's just a marketing gimmick.

Any suggestions to get the best from my connection for gaming with a router that doesn't break the bank?

If you are still trying to bring down your latency I think you'd likely be wasting your money as I doubt there is a lot you can do.

 . . . a router that doesn't break the bank?

What is your highest financial limit?

As you are supplied via a FTTP service, you only require a firewall/router/WAP device. For suitable MikroTik manufactured devices that match those requirements, please take a look at the first two posts of my "MikroTik Hardware Suggestions (Theoretical)" topic.

Thanks for that. Will check out hose routers.

Is the GPON SFP ONU Stick technically a router?

The FS GPON-ONU-34-20BI SFP is not a router but could be the equivalent of the Openreach ONT, that box attached to your wall (b*cat points) "over there".
