Amtrak
« on: August 23, 2008, 09:28:27 AM »

Just read this, I have no other info at the moment.

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/index.cfm?action=showthread&threadid=334595&forumid=16

I use Dabs, got my freeview box from them, one of the reasons I use them is because I knew they used Amtrack.
That may sound odd, but I work in a goods in department (when I'm at work, week after next,  :() and deal with various delivery companies, some I trust some I don't. This is a bit of a shock.

There doesn't seem to be any other report of this  ie....   BBC News site or any on-line newspaper....   :'(    ???        strange  !    Unless it's a disgruntled ex-employee being mischievous  !!

It's probably a wind up... as Kate says the BBC (or other news sites) would have picked up on that by now if it were true..

I suspect you're right. Their website appears to be running normally.

It is strange that theres little mention elsewhere though.

Amtrak Express is actually a franchised company with over 100 franchise depots, so its likely that its just the Warrington depot that is in difficultly.
Hopefully the parent company will have some say in this and alternative arrangements made, as the franshisee leases the depot from Amtrak, and on top of that there's nearby depots at  Bolton (whom would handle Dabs stuff) Wigan, Manchester etc etc

I do see that Amtrak has a 5 year contract secured in 2006 with the government to deliver mail and parcels nationwide for government depts and agencies, so hopefully things wont be in limbo for too long.

oooh just found this
