@BS - I'm (always) curious. What is the definition of 'furniture', does it have to have cables attached? There is a pole near me with old equipment on, some insulators and a metal cap, would this be classed as an item of furniture?
It's any attachment at all Craig - those insulators at the top of the pole for example are still 'furniture' - but in this instance, they aren't adding to the climbing regs as they aren't affecting the climber as they are perched atop the pole.
A BT66 is still classed as 'furniture' for example, and even though they are tiny they could still affect the safety of the climber if his climbing belt accidentally rested on on it when strapping himself in. The belt should rest only against the pole itself.
There are windows or 'envelopes' as they refer to them now on poles, that stipulate what can and can't be attached inside them. Also, because of PIA, new bracket extensions that can be installed to give greater capacity for furniture.
