Any plumbers?
« on: January 04, 2023, 11:52:28 PM »

I am trying to change the washers on a bidet because it is leaking and I am on a meter. It has 3 taps one hot, one cold, one rim/spray. I have managed to get the knob off the hot tap to reveal a cartridge which has a D shape insert for the knob. I did this with a big wrench. But having trouble getting the cold knob off. Any tips? There is no hurry as I am waiting for a washer kit to arrive. Dont want to call the plumber as he quoted £70 to change both cartridges but dont think he realises how old the bidet is, it's from the 70s so may not have cartridges to match the knobs.

In the past I have protected the porcelain with a piece of plywood, then with two screwdrivers under each side levered the knob off, But before that on ours the knobs are held on with a screw under a chrome disc on the top.
A squirt of WD40 may help.

Yes the screw is loose for the cold knob. I will try with wd40, ply and big screwdrivers.
