As noted in another W11 thread I just realised that all my "non-compliant" systems are still on 21H2 so I've started updating them.
First thing I encountered was that my installations were UK English and there is no such version available to download.

Trying the US English version it won't keep Apps due to incompatible language! The International English version seems to accept existing Apps however.

I'll make any comments on 22H2 later; intrigued to see how the Start menu has "improved".

Big improvement to the start menu!

I thought windows 11 had no start menu, but a start window instead?

It's not a window, more of a pop-up panel, so menu will sort of do.

I noticed that the 22H2 upgrade removed my "tweak" to enable Hyper-V on the Home edition which I had been using for a bit of testing/backup.
Hardly a surprise and not a problem as I have at least two genuine "Pro" systems available.

Hopefully explorer patcher will still work by the time 11 24H2 LTSC comes out.

For those who dont know explorer patcher can patch live in memory to bring that 10's start menu as well as its much better task bar.

I really don't give two hoots about the start menu or task bar, they work perfectly fine for my needs.  Its explorer itself that is awful, though somehow still not as bad as MacOS Finder.

Whilst I use small icons on taskbar (only possible on 11 with explorer patcher), quick launch (this is removed completely from 11 as was part of IE code), start menu (only possible with explorer patcher or open shell or startisback).

I was planning to use startisback in 10 like I did in 8, but ended up accepting the 10 menu as I think the pinning system works pretty well, crazy that menu only survived one version of windows, Microsoft just cant make their mind up, they introduce something then drop it 5 minutes later.

I dont see the issue with having multiple UI's to keep everyone happy but weaver might tell me off again. :)

I only use Windows for two things, AI upscaling and gaming.  So pinning a few icons to the start menu is fine.

I'd go completely insane using 11 for normal desktop use I think, I have everything pinned to the task bar in Linux.
