So, Toob have finally passed my mums house in Southampton. She was on a Talktalk ADSL service on an Exchange Only line with around 10meg down and 0.5 meg up.
Toob announced last week they were accepting orders on her road, so she placed an order straight away and the service has been installed 8 days later!
They've used existing Openreach poles and added a few of their own in the neighbouring roads. Installer came in a Transit van cherrypicker to make the fibre connection up the DP, then up a ladder to secure the other end of the fibre dropwire to a new anchor point fastened to the soffit of the house and from there, to a Toob branded wall box. They are using pre-terminated fibres with plugs on them for quick connections.
The ONT they're using is an Adtran SDX621i ONT XGSPON which according to the spec, supports 1Gig on Ethernet max.
