Realistically we never getting 100% coverage as is the case of the countries who rolled it out years ago.  The rural areas that dont get FTTP I assume will be considered ok providing they got some kind of alternate service that can deliver at least 100mbit/sec downstream probably via wireless. Urban not so sure as all political focus is on rural areas. Wayleave properties likely left behind as well as no one wants to step in with a definitive solution to combat (bypass) awkward owners.

FTTC never hit 100% either for the same reasons, even city areas have segments that are ADSL only (no cable or FTTC/FTTP) including my city.

So those not in plans I think are right to be concerned.  Even those planned but with a very late date are at risk as in most telecom rollouts the purse tends to get tightened towards the end.

I take the point but the vast majority shouldn't be "that" concerned, especially not max. It's not like he lives out in the sticks.

Patience is not a virtue he possesses. I can empathise.

So can I, been waiting for Netomnia to build in my area. Been in my town 6 months and edging ever closer - yet my postcode remains "in planning". Given I've seen the spine cable into the ground less than a few hundred metres from my house...

You think rural will end up with less coverage then?  I think it will be the other way round.

Yes I am impatient as well.

It's an interesting point - rural willl probably end up with more based on the fact that a lot of the country are classed as rural. What I personally would class as rural living in Wales isn't where I live :D

I'd love to have my own AltNet (biased of course) but, we're not here yet.

Yes. For me: Authority classed as Significant Rural (SR)

Cathedral city.

Gigabit (DOCSIS 3.1 or FTTP):   75.27%
Full Fibre (FTTP or FTTH):   56.97%
Estimated Maximum Mean Download Speed: 638 Mbps

CityFibre have today been blowing fibre into ducts to add to Openreach and Netomnia as FTTP providers.

Fair to say I'm not rural and the local authority literally has 'Metropolitan District' in its name but whatever :D

Well ok, not city = rural. Fair enough.

Edit: brainfart
