Patch panel cabling
« on: May 22, 2022, 06:17:14 PM »

So felt like a challenge after getting fttp recently and decided it was a good time to upgrade my cabling to cat6. The  5e I put in some years seems to works ok but in places it's looking a bit ropey as its all externally run back to my garage.

I decided to buy a wall mounted cat6 patch panel (12 port) as I only have 10 wired ports  in use. Its shorter than what you would find in say a 19inch cab. A cabinet seems overkill for my needs.

My question is related to how my cat6 should be presented at the patch panel. It's mounted vertically on the wall so can I run them all in from the top ??. On line video show the first cable but stops at that..

It's been a challenge in places getting the cat6 in as it's  so much thicker than the old 5e, but its going well  so far....

Anyone need a huge box of like new cat5e patch leads  ;D
