BT Home Essentials
« on: March 16, 2022, 08:06:34 PM »

I am now no longer with G.fast.  :)

I am now connected with BT Home Essentials Unlimited Fibre Essential Plan with 40/10 FTTC @ £15 a month.

That is a great deal Max, I pay more than double for 25/1.

Excellent!

That's very good value for money but I thought you were locked into G.Fast until May - did they let you out of your contract early?

Presumably they let them out of the contract early and have caused the small ISP a massive loss? What a terrible shame for that poor company, especially with the current economic situation.

Yes I left them. I pay it off with two months remaining left in contract plus Openreach exit fee.

Why did you do that rather than just arrange to transfer to BT when your contract ended?
You've paid for two months twice by doing what you have done.

That should be all you need. Hope the service is stable, feels fast and does everything you need it to.

For most things a well performing 40 Mbit line can provide a better experience than an imperfect 300 Mbit.

Yes fttc 40/10 are fine for me and my daughter with both of us netflix 4k streaming online no problem at all. Don't need faster than that.

I learn my lesson now as fttc 80/20 and g.fast 160/30 and 330/50 and future FTTP no need for that.

If there is FTTP 40/10 with same price on BT Home Essentials I would take it. But it not available as no FTTP 40/10 around here.
