FTTP LOS again
«
on:

I'm having my 3rd LOS in less than 4 weeks after install
Tracked it down to MSO on ISP status page, which says:
Incident Headline: NGA GEA_FTTP
BAALUO
Incident Details: At the moment some of your End Users may be experiencing a loss of service
Can anyone decipher the BAALUO bit?

That's the L2S/OLT code Openreach have given your OLT.
Swift check, your OLT lives in the Leatherhead exchange, just FYI. Your FTTC was probably on Huawei L2S/OLT BAADKK, brought into service in December of 2013.

Thanks! Spoken to ISP they say 48 hours to repair the current FTTP fault.
My FTTC service is still working, is due to be disconnected in a week or so. Having second thoughts now, and thinking about keeping as FTTC as backup, until my confidence in FTTP reliability is restored.
This is a new area, but 3 LOS in 4 weeks is not what I was expecting. Too many ELFs

The advantage of FTTP is faults can more easily be picked up, isolated, and repaired.
These are probably just teething problems for the area.
