G.fast Filter has solved it
« on: January 27, 2022, 03:50:06 PM »

When my G.fast went live with Openreach MK4 5C Master Socket the snr kept jump up and down with sync rate up and down every 30 minutes is rather annoyed. So, I brought this G.fast filter to put in the test socket and connected for 4 hours as the sanr steady at 2.9dB downstream and 3.1dB upstream and the sync rate steady at 240257kbps / 41996kbps with no change on the sra for 4 hours so far. Very impressed and happy overall. More stable and reliable.  ;)

I think I'd wait a few days before declaring that this has fixed anything. Anyway, I thought the problems were fixed following an engineer visit a short time ago?

No still issues problem with frontplate as SNR went up and down between 3.1dB and 7.1dB but the G.fast filter has stopped it. Steady at 2.9dB all day

My g.fast had reduced in sync overnight just after 1am. Downstream drop from 240257 to 226743 and upstream drop from 41996 to 41203. Snr now 3.2 on downstream up from 2.9dB and upstream remain 3.1dB.

I did ask my ISP if I stay with them in May but downgraded on G.fast 80/50 as they say Openreach don't sold G.fast 80/50 as they only sold 160/30 or 330/50 but shocked that they might stopped selling G.fast because of Openreach increase price for Openreach Modem as they are now moved on with FTTP. But they can offered me downgraded me back on FTTC 80/20 but can't get cheaper than BT Home Essentials and has warned me once you downgraded back to FTTC and you won't be able to upgrade G.fast in future as many ISPs are now stop selling it.

Of course not, that package is government subsidised I believe.

BT subsidise it themselves/sell it at cost/make a smaller profit than normal.

What affect had you noticed on the use of the internet that caused you to look at the stats (or were you monitoring the stats again in spite of your promises not to)?

I know several service providers have stopped.
