If that took off you could say goodbye to unlimited packages!

Yup. When your average ultrafast user is only doing about 5 Mbit/s at peak it doesn't take that much to mess the maths up.

Unless the rewards are substantial I really can't see it taking off, the cube costs $2499, add to that 20% VAT, shipping and any other import duties. Oh, and its normally $3499  :o

Its kitted out with a AMD Ryzen 5950x.

There is a software version as well. Hopefully won't take off. Bad enough the drain on electricity grids from the other gack but at least that's paid for by the user, unlike 'spare' bandwidth.

You gotta love it when people who know sod-all about how residential broadband works invent something like this.

To be fair, it could never work. ALL ISPs reserve the right to restrict users who use so much bandwidth it impacts other users and this is EXACTLY the sort of thing that would do so.

I'm surprised Mysterium has not done similar damage:

https://docs.mysterium.network/

Code: [Select]
Running a Mysterium Node will make your IP discoverable, and rentable by internet users worldwide.

That's actually how I imagined the web would be in the future, back when I was on dialup.  Its rather more in-keeping with the term "web" and how it originally worked.
