G.Fast connection speed suddenly dropped
« on: January 14, 2022, 12:56:48 PM »

Separated from original inappropriate topic - Roseway

My gfast has reduced 50% but don't understand why? My line attenuation also increase from 33.9 to 37.0 and now my sync rate dropped from 330/50 to 230/40. BTw checker has also changed 330/50 to 230/34 today? What going on? Start to feel like I’m being fobbed off with no 330/50 from BTw.  >:(

You're probably going to get a bit of heat for this post and I've zero sympathy.
You had 31 resyncs last time so that's something you might notice.

There's no way you would notice a drop in sync rate from 330Mb to 230Mb unless you were checking stats or running speed tests.
It's worryingly obsessive/compulsive.

It's barely 24 hours since a fault was fixed and a DLM reset was performed. It might be DLM related and resolve itself.
It's still above the speeds you received when you joined G.Fast and above the estimates you were quoted when you joined.

Just use your connection for what it's there for.

Oh, and leave your ISP alone! They are providing you your contracted service.

Have to agree 100% with @j0hn on this one.
You are clearly checking the speed and stats despite saying you would stop doing so.
You are getting what you contracted for so just accept it as it is and move on.
Most of us can only dream of having a connection as fast as yours and yet all you do is complain about it.
Your best option would be to put the Openreach modem back on the line so there is nothing for you to check.

Unbelievable, he promised not to do this again and within days he is back posting about a speed drop that as you and many others have pointed  out he wouldn't even notice if he were not constantly checking it, can this member be put in a post moderation queue so this repetitive nonsense can be nipped in the bud?

If you had stayed on the 160/30 service, would you be posting as much?

G.Fast is a variable rate service, I have customers on the same speed G.Fast, a quick check shows their lines can go as low as 220/30.
Do they complain, no, they accept it for what it is, not FTTP.

The isp told me there is nothing more they can do about it. Openreach say my line are above the btw checker estimates speed. They will not send out an engineer again. The isp seem getting bit fed up with me and told me if I am not happy with G.fast service then they suggest me to go back to Plusnet in May.  >:(

Sound like the ISP are well enough with me complaints.

What exactly, can you not do, with a connection synced at 230Mbps compared to one that is synced at 330Mbps?

Cos I upgraded to G.fast 330/50 from 160/30 as 330/50 are suppose to have 330/50 not 230/34! I paying lots of money for this service 330/50 £56.99 per month. That's openreach job to put my G.fast 330/50 as I am sick of tired with my next door getting 330/50 not me?

You were advised not to keep chasing more speed but you ignored it and did it anyway then the decent folk here  put up with your constant winging about speed and  tried to help and asked you to stop constantly monitoring your speeds and posting every time it dropped a bit again you ignored them and carried on (perfect example here) most members would sell their grannies for the lowest speeds you are getting and here you are again after promising the mods you wouldn't do it again moaning about a relatively small speed drop you couldn't possibly have noticed through normal use.

I have decided enough is enough. I have cancelled g fast now and going to move back to plusnet on fftc 40/10 with new order. I expected will get final payment for the remaining left of five months left on g.fast to be billed soon.

I look forward going back to plusnet and for me and my own health fttc 40/10 will do me good. No more stats, no more speed test check etc.

as 330/50 are suppose to have 330/50 not 230/34!

You know that isn't true max.

It's a variable rate service and you are given estimates for your line before you sign up.
Your line is achieving the estimates you were quoted, that you signed a contract agreeing to.
Your line always had lower estimates than your neighbour.

You should be paying for your broadband to access the internet, not to have a pissing contest with your neighbour.
Why do you care what speeds someone else is getting?

I think it's ridiculous that you have contacted your provider again so quick.

I have decided enough is enough. I have cancelled g fast now and going to move back to plusnet on fftc 40/10 with new order. I expected will get final payment for the remaining left of five months left on g.fast to be billed soon.

What would be the point in that? That would just mean you are paying for 2 broadband connections instead of 1.
Why not just wait until your contract is over and then switch?

It would be extremely unfair of you to cancel your G.Fast and to not pay the final bill.
You are with a very small provider who cannot afford to just write off your contract like the big providers can.
Especially considering how much support time you have taken up since you're G.Fast started.

Just use the connection. Downgrade in May.
