VMG1312-B10A line stats
« on: January 13, 2022, 05:55:16 PM »

Hi I have ordered a VMG1312-B10A that arrived today and wondered if someone give me a stats check on this lot, any opinions, comments? I was keen to know if interleaving was on?

I have updated the version but need to work out how to get the supervisor password from telnet on a Mac book  ::) and this is my first post  :)

I have been using a Archer VR600 V2 that's has been working well and did notice that when I plugged the Archer VR600 back in after testing the VMG1312-B10A to see if it worked the VR600 had slightly better stats but lacks any detail.

Thank You

Archer VR600 V2

Welcome to the forum.

Looking at the limited stats:
Actual Delay:          0 ms              0 ms
Which would seem to imply no interleaving which would incur at least 8ms delay each direction.

Welcome to the forum!

Much more detailed stats are available by using a different command. Can’t remember what the command is - one of our members will recall it. Here are my stats from my own VMG 1312-B10A (ADSL2 on a very slow link, not VDSL2/FTTC).

On checking my VMG1312-B10A, currently on line as modem only, the "Telnet Data" command listed in DSLStats is:
adsl info --stats
Can't remember the basic "Stats" command which will provide the DSLAM type and SW version with basic stat's.

Ref supervisor password, have a look here:

Reply #9 within this post gives further applicable forum links.
I was able to get my S/H 1312-B10A's supervisor PW from the PW file where it is listed in plain text.

The 1312-B10A has always been the best performer by far on my rather long VDSL-2 line and hopefully will keep going until I migrate to FTTP later this year.

Thanks for the info :)

I have noticed that the VMG1312-B10A has a higher Attenuation than the TP Link VR600 V2 as its 11.9db on the Vr600 and 16.7 dB on the VMG1312-B10A not a major difference but about a 2mbps sync loss. Having a ESI cabinet doesn't help but the VR600 V2 might be slightly for my line.

You mean of course "shows" a higher attenuation, and this will be because of a different bitloading. Including some higher tones will push the average attenuation down very very slightly because those highly attenuated tones are now included, no?

I'm no attenuation expert but see what you mean. In real terms, sync and tested speed is higher with the VR600 V2 than the VMG1312-B10A.

Thanks for your earlier post  :)

Those on this forum generally find that the Zyxel VMG1312-B10A and VMG8324/8924-B10A modem routers give good stable performance and decent sync rates on the vast majority of lines. This is especially true on longer lines where their front-end noise filter appears to play a part. However, as you have found, there is no hard and fast rule about this and your line performs a little better on the VR600, albeit with a loss of stats visibility.

Or my line where on an ECI cabinet with a VERY stable clean line (once the drop wire fault had been fixed), using an OpenWRT Home Hub 5a allowed me to reduce the SNR target to gain full sync.

Though I still have to see how it copes in the summer months, assuming I wont have FTTP by then.
