It's not working  :-[

I have my dsl cable from the master switch connected to the DSL on the XMG.
LAN1 of XMG - WAN port of Nest Router

On the Zyxel GUI:
I changed the ip address of the Zyxel to 192.168.86.254 so it is on the same subnet as the Nest Router (192.168.86.1)
I turned off DHCP.
I deleted all of the Broadband WAN Interfaces and made a new one :
Mode - Bridge
802.1p - 0
802.1q - 101
MTU - 1500

On the Nest Router
I reset the Nest Router and entered the set up on the Google Home app.
During set up I set the PPPOE details to match the username and password of my EE Fibre account.

XMG power light is on, LAN light flashing, WAN light flashing every so often. Internet light not lit and hasn't even flickered once!

During set up it complains of no Internet and will not proceed.
What am I doing wrong?

I presume there is a typo above. s/master switch/master socket/

Disconnect that cable, for now. Concentrate on getting the XMG3927 to synchronise with the DLAM.

If you have not made a mistake, the XMG3927 should now synchronise with the DSLAM. You should see two LEDs solidly illuminated; the POWER LED and the WAN LED. I do not expect Internet LED of the XMG3927 to illuminate when the device is configured to act as a bridging modem.

Edited to add: See Table 9, Page 38, of the XMG3927 User's Guide.

INTERNET Blue            Off               There is no Internet connection or the gateway is in bridged mode.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Yes, that was a typo.
Master Socket > DSL port

I have now disconnected the LAN cable from the Zyxel and power cycled.
Power light is solid.
WAN flashes for 5 or 10 seconds, then off for about 30 seconds, then flashes again.
I'll let it sit doing that for a bit and see if it sorts itself out.

Shame it doesn't say what a flashing blue light means. 🤔

It does. Please read the User's Guide; pay attention to Table 9, on Page 38.

There's a beautifully written zyxel bridge mode guide here: https://kitz.co.uk/routers/zyxel_VMG8324-B10A_bridge.htm

It's an older GUI but it's the same setup for a g.fast connection as VDSL.

Thank you for that link. It was this guide that I tried to follow, but it's a bit different with the Google Nest WiFi Router.
As such it isn't possible to apply the settings to the router from section 4 of the guide. At least, not in the same way. It's only possible to set the PPPOE username and password during the set up wizard.

As I have now left the Zyxel isolated from other items over night with the recommended settings and the WAN light is still blinking slowly, suggesting that the VDSL link is down, I have to assume that something is wrong with those settings.

My ISP (EE) is providing a FTTC, G.Fast, 140/20 connection. Does this make any difference to how this needs to be set up?

Can you post a screenshot of the WAN interface screen for the one you have created as it does sound like the G.Fast side should be working from the settings you've described.

Ok. I now have a solid lit WAN lit on the Zyxel, but it still says "Connection Down"
What's next?

You should be able to confirm the status of the G.Fast connection (System Monitor > xDSL Connection screen?).
I note that your setup shows 'VDSL over PTM' - is there no G.Fast option?

No, there isn't a specific g.fast option. Only these 3.

The xDSL statistics show the link uptime is 36 minutes and counting. So I guess the Zyxel is doing what it should be, it's just the Google router isn't for whatever reason.

Yes, the Google router will need your PPP connection details and also make sure VLAN (802.1q) is off on the Google as the Zyxel is doing that part of the connection.

It's not possible to make any such alterations to the google router.
I believe there is still a problem with the Zyxel setup as although xDSL shows the link is up when I view the connection status is states "VDSL WAN - Connection Down".  ???
