Hi Max, It really doesn't feel like a year since you said you were taking a 12 month rest from the forum.  ::)

The speed has dropped due to the huge difference in SNR between the old and new versions (3.1dB vs 18.3dB) and that could well be down to vectoring not being enabled.
The only way to prove it's the new firmware causing your issue is to put the previous version back and see if the issue goes away. If it does then I'd raise a ticket with Zyxel about it.
 :)

I thought we had ascertained before that vectoring CAN'T be disabled on g.FAST, its literally a requirement?

I'd leave the router off for half an hour then try again, then if it still happens leave it alone for a few days and see if it re-syncs on its own.

You've already said in the past 40 is more than fast enough for you so giving it time to recover shouldn't be a chore.

As Alex said, it's required for g.fast.
I'm sure it wasnt that long ago that we had the conversation before; that this Zyxel modem doesn't seem to be able to pickup the vectoring status correctly in the stats.

I am very confused. OP had 230, which became 330 did go some pair rearrangement, complete with BTWholesale checker and Openreach minimum downstream update within a day.

This then dropped to 230 overnight and an Openreach engineer was assigned, as is correct if it's way below minimum threshold.

No further mention of this. A firmware update then really breaks things. This is a tough thread to follow.

Anyway: put it back on the firmware it was on before and leave it alone unless there's something in the release notes for the firmware you need.

Get the line issue sorted and please let us know how it goes.

I have reverted back to old firmware (unplugged power first then unplugged dsl cable) after half an hour powered it up and bingo speed back as it should be. I will email Zyxel support that it could be firmware issues with no G.Vector on it! I urged all of you PLEASE DO NOT USE new firmware yet.

Speed back as it should be:

That crossed my mind too.  The problem is we've been unindated with stats and figures over the past year and when some of those stats are just normal varience and nothing of too much concern, then the more important figures get lost amongst all the noise. :/

His line was good and something that many people would envy. The sudden increase to 330 was quite a shock and I was hoping that would be the end to it.   Unfortunately that 330 seemed short lived.

No engineer today because the isp told me these are look fine within BTW estimated otherwise the engineer could charged me for waste their time. So I leave it alone and forget the stats. I will uninstalled dslstats later today as I still unwell in bed

I don't even know if that one with 18.3dB SNRM could be cleared by just performing a fresh sync.    I would at least try that before rolling back the f/w. It certainly needs to be done before writing off the f/w as bad...  You can't positively declare a problem with the f/w from just one bad sync.

Anyhow, speed is now back to what it was, so hopefully Max you really can forget about stats and messing around with anything on the modem.   Have a wonderful NY.  :)

Happy New Year to you too kitz. I agree I was lucky as my line are pretty good - spring to summer sync at between 200/32 to 220/36 and autumn to winter sync at between 220/36 to 239/39.
Don't know what has happen to 330/50 as it only shortern time as these are no longer now. Probably down to main DP port swapped by many engineer who put more peoples on the line.

Just looking at Max's stats again and noticed that the new firmware uses a different version of the Broadcom driver, A2pvfbH045o.d27j vs A2pvfbH043q.d26u previously, so I wonder if that is at the root of the issue?

I still say you can't judge the latest firmware, you didn't give it time to see if it was a fluke.  ANY modem can sync badly once in a while.

Maybe the gfast cabinet doesn't like the latest firmware but maybe I have forgotten to updated latest firmware with default settings resetted?

Maybe other who has the same router as mine can try out this latest firmware to see if it was the same issues with not vector (disabled). I got email from support they say it seem so strange for g vector disabled for the latest firmware as it might not picked up from the dslam with issues. Told me to try again with default settings reset.

I will try one more time but this time with default settings resetted before turn on router. Before updated latest firmware do I need to resetted by the back router with a pin before connected it. Will try that later after watched recorded emmerdale.

Max I suggest only updating the firmware if it resolves a problem you have, as any new firmware always carries the risks of undesirable behaviour.

OK no problem at all. I only thinking if latest new firmware has fixed security patches
