Yet Another Pavement Marking Query
« on: December 07, 2021, 11:22:28 PM »

There is a local stretch of pavement which I infrequently use and, last August, when passing that way I noticed there was a small excavation relating to a gas supply. The work was completed and everything was subsequently made good.

Earlier this month (December) I noticed a spray-painted marking on the rectangle of new tarmac, originating from the making-good of the above work. Right in the centre of the rectangle was a neat white "X" and written underneath was five letters "BT MTS". I am aware of "Basil Treem's Mole Trapping Service" but, as no mole hills are visible, I presume that is not the meaning . . .

Any suggestions, please?  :-\

If it's telecoms related it could possibly be Morrison Telecom Services, part of the M Group.
They are an Openreach subcontractor.

If not that, I don't have a clue.

I think j0hn has probably nailed it (as always  ::) ;D ) - Morrison's are one of the principal contractors, they in turn will have a plethora of sub-contractors working for them.

Virtual kitteh treats (unlicked) are on the way to j0hn. I deliberately went back that way to take another look and the pavement had been re-excavated with a slug (or snail) like trail running from that point, across a grassed area, to a newly replaced telephone pole. The excavation was correctly guarded and, attached to one of the guard rails, there was a sign referencing both Openreach and Morrison. No sooner had I taken a look than a re-instatement team arrived to re-surface the pavement.
