In the garden, Janet has built a contraption that she calls a sitooterie because you can "sit ootside in it". She imitates the vernacular of the lowlands here. It’s a garden seat for two persons, with a roof over it and there is a small branch from a tree across the top at the front just below the roof edge. Small birds come and land on the branch and then transfer to nut dispensers that are hanging from the sitooterie roof and there they are safe from Pangur Bán, Thomas and Buidheag.
This morning, there was roughly 1 in of snow on the roof of the sitooterie, but the day’s sun may well have reduced that. It was already dark again when I awoke.
