Forum editor buttons and iOS15
« on: November 25, 2021, 12:42:51 AM »

Since upgrading to iOS15, I’ve noticed a weird bug concerning the action buttons we have in the multi line text entry box in this forum. If I highlight a section of this text that I’m entering now, and hit the bold button above, then I get a <b></b> (can’t enter the actual bold code literally) at the wrong position, near the start of the text, ignoring the highlighted section. Absolutely frustrating, same with all the buttons, italic etc. So have to enter the codes by hand. I don’t know how the forum code can ‘know’ this is iOS15 and have or trigger some kind of specific bug.

afaik the code is the same for all* and doesnt specifically target the type of Operating System.
It's the web browser that interprets the html code and is then responsible for how it displays the page layout. Therefore the 'bug' lies with the mobile version of Safari used on your device.

*Some custom modifications have a different layout versions for mobile devices v desktop.  Which version is displayed depends on the User agent, which is how the browser identifies itself to the remote server.  Some mobile  browsers (eg Chrome) allows the user to switch between its mobile and desktop versions.
