Zyxel VMG3625-T50B chipset!
« on: September 15, 2021, 12:06:53 AM »

My ISP decided to provide this router in the near future and I know that Zyxel mostly uses Broadcom chipset with various levels "A, B, C, etc..." but for VMG3625-t20A I saw here on a topic that it uses a mediatek chipset which disappointed me since Broadcom is way better in performance, so does anyone know the chipset brand in this model? or will it be a series like VGM3625 in general uses mediatek but -TxxX determines the modem capabilities and level of performance like ADSL / VDSL / VOIP, etc..?

Thank you  :)

It is a Mediatek modem chip in that one unfortunately.
The modem's capabilities are denoted by the first letter of the model name - so a VMG series is VDSL (AMG = ADSL, XMG = G.Fast).

According to the notes I have, the VMG3625-T50B is the same as the VMG8623-T50 but missing the 2 fxs ports to plug phones into for voip: https://www.zyxel.com/uploads/vmg3625_t50b/VMG3625-T50B-EG_DS.pdf

will your ISP hand over the Supervisor password?

I have a Mediatek Zyxel VMG1312-T20B in service at present, it's performing like so on a 40/10 FTTC connection:

Thank you tubaman for clarifying this, Guess I will give it a go at least for me to own a Zyxel router  ;)

According to the notes I have, the VMG3625-T50B is the same as the VMG8623-T50 but missing the 2 fxs ports to plug phones into for voip: https://www.zyxel.com/uploads/vmg3625_t50b/VMG3625-T50B-EG_DS.pdf

Unfortunately I do not even dream that my ISP will do such thing I am sure there will be a ton of options and features locked up / removed, BUT I will dig it up and even take it apart and post the chip / board pictures  >:D

I have another router that uses Mediatek chip and everything is fine on the low speeds like 30 Mbps but when I subscribe to higher speeds like 70 or 100 Mbps things get worse and the amount of CRC are crazy, since it is Zyxel it could perform better than other Mediatek devices.

Thank you for sharing your line stats  :)

According to https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/MediaTek this model will probably has a EN7516 chipset with 2 cores @ 900MHz this is the only chipset which support profile 35b from mediatek (EcoNet) as my ISP planning to increase VDSL2 speeds.

Exactly the same shape as yours except f/w version and I have "G.998.4(G.I which is G.INP as you can see your line has DS interleaved on while US is on fast so probably the mediatek chip is causing G.inp issue "if you are connected to Huawei cabinet".

* Unfortunately my ISP blocked telnet/ssh ports  but I will try unlocking it today and see how things go from there "if I successfully unlock it".
