BTw BB Checker with FTTP & VOIP Land Line
« on: September 08, 2021, 03:26:00 PM »

My son migrated from FTTC to FTTP at the end of last year, always been with BT and remained with BT for FTTP service.
Opted to retain his land line which initially remained on the old copper provision, was informed after a few weeks that he was being migrated to VOIP which occured on schedule retaining his existing LL number, copper line now dead.
His existing DECT phone worked without any issues now via the BT Home Hub router of course.

On checking, now find that the BTw BB Checker no longer works when entering the LL number, is this to expectation with FTTP/VOIP?

There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line
Did not think to try the BTw Checker during the few weeks on FTTP before the LL was migrated to VOIP service so can't say if it still worked then.

I have had the same message ever since switching to BT Digital Voice/VOIP - no FTTP here - as such, I just just the address checker.

Not ideal but it does contain most of the same data

If you ring BT they should be able to give you the UPRN number and/or access line ID.

Ahh, so it seems to be the change to VOIP that's the main factor.
Don't have my son's post code handy but will try that later.
Will get him to check with BT regarding the line UPRN number, may be displayed on his personal BT account web site portal.

No big deal really, just curious.

It's expected with the change to VOIP.

If you ring BT they should be able to give you the UPRN number and/or access line ID.

Just get the UPRN from https://www.findmyaddress.co.uk/

The UPRN will give the exact same results as the address checker anyway.

Yes, the BTw address checker works with limited information as predicted, no "last observed speeds" details, however, existance of an "ONT with active service" is recorded.

@j0hn:
Thanks of the UPRN link, unfortunately "www.findmyaddress.co.uk" doesn't work in N.I., appears to be main land only.

Makes sense to remove last observed speed as if you ordered FTTC tomorrow you wouldn't necessarily be on the same pair back to the cabinet or the same port, so that information would no longer be valid.
