Next Thursday mean it will be 28 days since overclockers sent it back to bequiet. Haven't heard anything back yet but overclockers did say on email either repaired item return within 28 days otherwise a replacement a new psu or full refunded if my choice on day 28 but there seem customers complaint about overclockers 28 days is either calander days or working days.

I just hoping that's next Thursday I can ask overclockers I have the rights to have full refunded so I can purchase different brand psu maybe a new corsair rmx 750w gold plus.

Can you suggest me which psu brand are the most reliable and stable one.

I generally go for Seasonic or Corsair (I'm pretty sure Corsair's might be mostly based on Seasonic's), never had one fail on me. Of course there will be an extremely rare time someone will get a defective one. I also make sure mine are plugged into a surge protector or alternatively a mains conditioner block (such as a Tacima 6 Way Mains Conditioner).

Ive had a Corsair go pop.

I think it really depends on the model. Like most PSU brands, they are effectively just rebadged units from various OEMs (https://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm), with possibly some small tweaks.

A lot of the premium Corsair PSUs are generally excellent, but the cheaper ones like the CX/VS series had a bit of a mixed reputation.

The PSU tier list is always a good reference: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list/

I would go for a Seasonics GX750 or Phanteks Amp 750 same unit but cheaper!! https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/zardon/phanteks-amp-750-power-supply-review/ both have a 10 year warranty. The only difference is supplied cabling.

I've had a Corsair TX650v2 for 9 years, just a rebadged Seasonic S12ll, it pays to stay with top tier manufacturers.

I still got 12 years old 700W icute AP-700AS on my old intel i7 2700K pc computer with 14 years warranty on it in 2012. Brought it £99.99 from Maplins Telford Store. Very quiet and never let me down.

That's probably more luck if I'm honest; I'm not sure I'd put an "iCute" PSU anywhere near a PC I remotely cared about.

They really pushed their luck on that 700W rating as well. It's not uncommon to see a the total output of the 12V rail(s) be equal to or at least close to the headline rating of the unit. That unit seems to have 2x 12V rails with 20A each, providing a total of 480W. You'd maybe get away with calling that a 500W PSU, albeit not a very good one.

Yeah it seem fine with Intel i7 2700K (95W) as it got no graphic card. It got Intel® HD Graphics 3000 on it. Seem fine watch Netflix, You tube 1080P. That's iCute PSU are fine with Intel PC total of less 400W.

I used generic PSUs for years and also had no problems, ironically it was once I moved to a brand (Antec) that I had my first PSU blow up on me.

Still, I'd not risk it today, there's really no reason to.

Updated: Overclockers has shipped my replacement PSU (good as new) so I was disappointed as they should have asked me first do you want it replacement or have fully refunded instead before they shipping it out.

Indeed, according to Toms Hardware (though this is the Platinum not the standard Gold):

    Expensive
    The protection features are not configured correctly
    Not so high overall performance
    One of the EPS cables has two of these connectors
    High Vampire Power
    Lower than 70% efficiency with 2% load
    Mediocre soldering quality

You'd expect much better from a Platinum rated PSU, especially the 2% load and high vampire power.

Strangely looking at other reviews, the Gold seems to review better than the Platinum, but its hard to quantify as not all reviewers measure the actual performance.

Curious, if you look at the LTT Tier List.

High Quality
be quiet! | Dark Power 12 [non-Pro] - Straight Power 11 Gold =>750W / Platinum <=750W

Lower Quality
be quiet! | Dark Power 12 [non-Pro] - Straight Power 11 Gold <=650W / Platinum =>850W

Although they're still both considered Tier A so not bad.
