heh cant help but wonder what speeds we will be at by the time BT get to upgrading all exchanges to 21CN...  and whether there will still be sufficient bandwidth on the backhaul and red exchanges.   ???

If anyone wants to know when their own exchange is due to go 21CN, you can put your phone no in Sams checker here
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php

Q4 2010 here... so seems like a long time away.

Your exchange is due to be switched to 21CN in Q1 2009  >:(

Does this mean that we can get rid if the carrier pidgeons?

14 Miles from Charing Cross (London, that is)

Looking at the links in Timp's reply above, I note that my exchange has just been enabled for Be (Up to 24M/bs ~ But we don't not guarantee noffink Squire).

Am I tempted?

Probably not.

Q3 2008 for me, so then I may get my full 8MbMax out here in the sticks  ;D.

I used fibre optics for use with instrumentation some 25 years ago, when I worked for British Rail Research and our biggest problem was with the joints but technology has improved since then.
