Following on from my earlier posts regarding the unexpected installation of FTTP in my street I can now confirm my outline plan is now complete. The installation took place 2 weeks ago without much hassle. As it happened we were in the process of having some work done including replacement of skirting boards. The installer (M J Quinn) was happy to use my pre-installed micro trunking behind the skirting for the fibre run. Only two points worth noting:-
The ONT is a single port Huawei - the installer was surprised and double checked the installation notes which specially stated Huawei.
To get the ONT activated he had to make a phone call which he had on speakerphone and was answered by a call centre in India. This surprised me as I thought OR and it’s subcontractors would be dealing with the UK.
Anyway all ok and yesterday my landline no was ported to A&A, thus ceasing my Zen FTTC service.
Very happy.
