1p Mobile, EE mvno, 5g connectivity and WiFi calling
« on: July 08, 2021, 03:43:30 PM »

1p mobile have recently added:
Quote
Wi-Fi calling
We are delighted to announce that we have enabled Wi-Fi calling for all customers.
There are no extra charges, no new SIM required, just turn on the option in your phone and get great indoor coverage using any Wi-Fi signal.

5G
We are excited to announce the network upgrade to 5G.
There are no extra charges, no new SIM required, just turn on the option in your account and enjoy faster speeds with a 5G compatible phone.

As this is over EE, this looks good compared to other offerings,
They offer 50gb data for £15 a month, or for £30 You can have a back up SIM connected for 365 days, and if you use the data it's charged at 1p a mb.
You can also purchase a gold number for £20.

30gb to use over a year sounds okay, are there any tests anyone would like me to carry out?

Isn't that 3 gig, if it's £30.00 and charged at 1p per meg?

Well EE have to find a way to keep their "fastest network" claim somehow, its basically by being the most restrictive network for data usage.

Kinda sad when Voxi are £35/month for unlimited and Three are as little as £17/month.

I did nearly 2TB recently on Three 5G and no warnings so far.

Voxi are currently £30 for unlimited: https://voxi.co.uk/plans ends 7th October
Lebara are £25 for unlimited: https://mobile.lebara.com/gb/en/best-sim-only-deals/unlimited-data-plan-25/p/441167

EE doesnt have many MVNOs left,
To The Moon Mobile offers 80gb for £20: https://tothemoonmobile.com/#bundles
1p Mobile offers 50gb for £15

EE offers unlimited 1 month contract for £43....

I thought 1p mobile was an EE MVNO, or is it run by EE themselves so doesn't count?

I'm not sure, but since 1pmobile have introduced a £2.50 minimum monthly spend, I cannot recommend for a backup sim:

There may be more to come on the minimum monthly spend but for now it seems that it only applies to those who signed up before 2021. Those who started this year and in the future still benefit from credit never expiring (unless terminated for inactivity).

Wi-Fi calling depends on the phone. I have just moved their SIM from a Moto G5 to a Pixel 4a and the service now works.

Maybe, I'm currently burning through the credit, 4g voice and wifi calling work fine in a Pixel 2 and a Redmi Note 9T, 5G data also works in the 9T.
