New 2019 mk4 faceplate fitted I didn't ask for
« on: June 13, 2021, 12:46:22 PM »

Hi
So OR fitted a new 2019 mk4 faceplate before I could see what he was doing.

I did look at getting one but after warnings I decided to keep my iplate

I got a few errors in ten days with my iplate, now its like watching the milometer on my old Yamaha YPVS
The sync has dropped and I'm not happy

The ISP says its a OR damage problem, fill out a form
(I did this for a cable washed out and the polebox cover falling off, it took months)

Who should refit my better one, OR or the ISP sending out OR

ATM I have a split sternum and hernia so can't get that low

I suspect you'll find that Openreach will only fit the MK4 now as that is what they are issued with. I doubt they'll entertain refitting an older version, but doubtless that'll depend on who turns up and how much tea and cake you ply them with.

Yep  :)
Its pot luck who you get
Looks like I'll have to take to a knee soon, if the wife gets a rope  :'(

But legally would it be OR or isp, isp insisting a second callout was needed to get them to fix the exchange, cab, manhole.
But they just came replased the faceplate

If you have your old face plate re-fit it yourself, too complicated using OR. Hope you get better soon fella.

Hi and thanks
I was lucky as the ISP at the time was asking OR to send out engineers until the fault was fixed
hoping to get a higher level one out

One that came out was the one that removed it, so I asked him if he would put the back plate and Iplate back
He did say it won't be any better, but it is, its going back to almost the speed I got before OR came out
The speed started going back up and max and sync are higher

I know it depends on cab, copper, card, router and so on
But for my setup the iplate  is far better than the new none gfast clipon one

The last guy was going to fix the fault by a lift & shift at the cab but was stopped by a open lumms case he said.
Yes MY open lumms case  :(
He also said a migration order was in place stopping him  :-\
The someone at OR ISP chat said lift & shift done, fault fixed
Its wasn't and didn't
Now they have not got back to the ISP.

Group funded street cabs or fttp anyone  :baby:

What did you originally have and what warnings are there about the mk4?

The iPlate provides:

A filtered ‘bell wire’ which reduces the amount of noise picked up by home extension wiring from affecting the broadband ADSL signal.
Common mode filtering of RF signals without affecting frequencies in the ADSL band.

Its certainly curious as I thought that the MK4 was supposed to include these built-in to the single filter which I'd expect to perform the same or better (one less loss in plug/socket) not worse.
