The exchange definitely has a Huawei OLT (it has plenty Huawei cabinets).

How long ago was your FTTP installed to the street?

Guess I'll just have to wait. Any way of finding out if/when the exchange will be upgraded, or just keep an eye on the news on sites like this?

No idea to be honest.
I'm not even sure if they are actively swapping this kit over yet.
I think such a swap over needs extensive planning and coordination with ISP's.

If it's anything like a live-to-live migration on FTTC (swapping customers from 1 cabinet to another) then it needs planned with every ISP of every customer connected to the equipment being changed.
This is to ensure that every ISP can make sure they are routing each customer correctly.

Here's an ISPReview article on the subject, which is the last news I've seen on it.

I guess on the one hand, given these lines will be working perfectly and are way above what probably 75% of the country have access to, there's unlikely to be a hurry.

On the other hand, if you were chasing gigabit targets then they represent a relatively cheap way to get 50,000 extra gigabit capable connections (assuming they're not already classed as gigabit, unlike the OP's!).

They'll be in the gigabit capable list.

Absolutely zero incentive to do anything then, unless the gear spontaneously combusts.

I suspect they will only upgrade it if problems arise for that area, or until the majority of the UK has access to 1Gb connections.

Alternatively you could hope that another network provider starts operating in your area, like CityFibre or others, and then move to their network as it'll be all new equipment.
