Electricity Wall Homeplug
« on: June 05, 2021, 06:31:03 PM »

I am shocked when I am using electricity wall homeplug ethernet plugged in the back of Gfast router for my new CCTV upstair with other electricity wall homeplug ethernet as I can see dslstats on G.fast stats has very large ES, CRC as it was zero since May 25th install until today when using homeplug adaptor as the errors rocking up!

CRC:            22144
ES:             12118

That's for within 20 minutes of errors using homeplug  ??? ???

I take off homeplug and the errors has disappears!

Why Gfast router doesn't like homeplug?

I am so angry  as it might end up DLM banded on the line for G.fast now with horror ES errors for goodness's sake. I can't believe it happen to Homeplug?

We've discussed powerline adapters/homeplugs interfering with xDSL lots of times.
Some Homeplugs have a feature that tries to avoid the VDSL2 frequencies but even with that enabled they can cause issues.

G.Fast uses higher frequencies which can be affected more by external noise sources.

I expect all G.Fast modems to show similar.

That's a good job I did noticed it on dslstats otherwise I wouldn't know nothing. I am disappointed can't use cctv system with 8 cctv cameras as I have to buy long ethernet cable straight to the cctv upwards from the downstair hallway to drill the wall. I have stopped using electricity homeplug now.

@adslmax, if you're getting shocked you may need an electrician as that shouldn't happen.

I dabbled with powerline a long time ago and vowed never to again.

Hardwire where you can, takes a bit more effort but you will reap the rewards from it for ever more!

Couldn't agree more. They are putting high frequency data signals down wires never intended for such a purpose, so it's not at all surprising that they cause so many issues. From a purely RFI perspective I think they should have been banned years ago.

I'm glad it's not upset anything. I wouldn't bin the Homeplugs as you can always get money for them on eBay etc. I know I don't like them but I also don't like electronic waste. ::)

Plus their issues become null and void once FTTP comes along.  They're only a problem with DSL.

Don't get me wrong, their performance is hit and miss, but if they performed as well as you needed then no reason not to use them once off DSL.
