The crossing of neighbouring properties is perfectly normal and what the vast majority of telegraph poles do.

Thanks, she had been told by someone that overhead lines shouldn't cross neighbouring properties but I'll tell her that that isn't the case. As for the trees, they don't touch them until they wear through the cable and cause a fault.

Are there any rules as to how close to the neighbouring property an overhead line can run? It's literally only a few feet from the front of the neighbour's house, which wasn't built when the pole was originally installed, and was practically touching the scaffold when it was being built.

The 'Communications Act 2003, in line with part 11, overhead apparatus paragraph 74' allows OR a statutory right to fly lines over private property, without the need to obtain permission from the landowner.

The standard is 2mtrs within any building over which they pass.
