Its problematic when you have health issues so tend to sleep past midday though.

Example, the automated calls we've had claiming to be SimplyBe since getting the new phones:

29/04 11:02
28/04 09:16
27/04 12:22
27/04 10:54
26/04 11:25
23/04 12:31
23/04 10:43
19/04 11:14
15/04 11:21
13/04 11:33
12/04 13:12
06/04 11:18
06/04 10:52
30/03 12:50
29/03 13:36
16/03 11:13
23/03 11:02
19/03 10:53
15/03 13:41
15/03 09:37
09/03 11:47

I haven't found a way to block calls on the Gigaset.

On my handset in the Call Lists when looking at an incoming call, in the call Options I have "Copy to Blacklist". You can also review any blocked numbers in Settings/Telephony Black List. I understand that any number in this list will not be announced and receive the engaged tone. This is on the Gigaset Go-Box 100 which recently replaced my N300A IP, so not sure if the N300 has this feature. I don't have any numbers in the list so can't verify it's effectiveness.

Doesn't seem to be there on the N300 though I could have sworn I saw a blocklist "somewhere".

My experience is that these unwanted calls happen before midday over 90% of the time.

Yes it is a PITA and I'm surprised that the Telcos have not found a way to defeat it. I normally only answer calls where I know the number both on my mobile and landline. Trouble is when I get a call from the NHS it is often Private Number calling so I have to answer those although I've yet to have a scam caller spoofing that.

Stuart

Yes I've found that calls marked as 'Private Number' tend to be  from the health service, or some other official department... maybe the scammers are not able to mask themselves as 'private number'?

The ones that make me chuckle are when they come through on the handset as 'Out of Area' instead of some sort of nonsense number - what the cuckoo is that supposed to mean?

Just to note that BT customers can use the free BT Protect service. Other telco's should have something similar.

This allows you to block certain classes of call/specific numbers of your choosing or based on a BT blacklist and also report new nuisance calls.

Calls are still answered but transferred to a special junk voicemail service on 1572 so you should not miss NHS/other legitimate calls.

Apparently you can't do it via the website when on BT Basic.

When I had my voice line connected on sky, I did use the feature on the BT cordless I brought that made them speak on answer machine, and found it was really effective, shame I haven't seen such a thing on mobile phones yet.
