IP profile is higher than it should be
« on: July 31, 2008, 10:52:12 PM »

I have a rather odd situation. For the last 48 hours I have been continuously connected at 5632 kbps, having previously been connected at a higher speed which gave me an IP profile of 5500 kbps. The present connection speed should have caused my IP profile to drop to 4500 kbps, but in fact it's still 5500 kbps, and I am seeing actual download speeds of up to 5300 kbps. It looks as though my IP profile is stuck at a higher level than it ought to be. :)

Theres a change.  Interesting that its happened the other way round than normal.

I take it that you wont be raising a ticket to your ISP

At a guess the DLM didnt pick up and record the new sync..  I think I'd turn a blind eye.
Thanks for sharing with us though eric :)

Unfortunately the IP profile did eventually catch up about three days late, although there hasn't been a resync. :(

why not use DMT to force it back up again by fiddling with your SNR Margin  :)

Because the router I'm using (Billion 5200G) overrides the DLM setting for target noise margin and forces it to 6 dB. There's too much noise on my line to even consider making it lower still.
