zyxel xmg3927-b50a - not connecting to BT GFast
« on: April 21, 2021, 11:52:21 AM »

Hi all,

could someone please help, I am struggling to connect my Zyxel to my BT GFast service.
Can one please advise on any fixes?

I have attached a screen shot of how I have got the router configured.
I get a blue flashing light and I can get to the BT Wholesale test page but then can't connect any further.

The usual BT PPPOE username/password are bthomehub@btbroadband.com/BT, have you tried those?

We have gone through Gamma as a BT reseller and they provide their own password/username, do you think that it would be worth trying the BT details as well?
I am pretty sure I don't but can you confirm that I don't need a modem with this router?

Also would I need to delete the ETHWAN - see attached?

Thank you anyone that can help  :)

It does say ADSL/VDSL over PTM - is there not a mode specifying G.FAST or do they bundle it in as a form of VDSL?
Is it actually establishing sync?

No there isn't a GFast option, I believe it is bundled.

I can get as far as the BT Wholesale test site as per the attached.

If you're getting to that page it does suggest the router is achieving sync. I'd try the BT credentials as I don't think you are getting the PPP part of the connection.
You don't need to delete the ethwan connection, that is there if you choose to use a separate modem via the WAN port.

@ tubaman I don't believe the BT credentials will work, the Op is not a BT retail customer, they are using a reseller - Gamma Telecom

@traceyaw73 you need to contact Gamma and ask why the PPP connection is not working, I suspect it hasn't been set up or is wrongly configured.  That BT page comes up when a PPP connection to the ISP fails. The router must be syncing and getting out to the BT network for that page to show up.

Thank you. I shall get back onto Gamma however I can still get to the BT Wholesale test page with the BT credentials as well....how odd.
Should that happen?

Yes, as per @RealAleMadrid comment it is showing that the PPP connection is failing - Gamma Telecom need to fix this for you.

Yes, very quickly, you can delete and recreate as many as you like.

Here's my configuration:

I got this zyxel xmg3927-b50a as for G.fast (you need unticked with red X everything except G.fast) and click apply then u are good to go with your broadband username and password

VLAN should be set to:

802.1p: 0
802.1q: 101

There is no need to disable all the other supported modulation/VDSL profiles in order to allow the 3927 to sync on G.Fast. The OP has sync and has an authentication issue with their ISP.
